The good old feel-good movie is all we want really these days. The best ones are in our sights this week and we have made a list of the ones we think deserve a mention as some of the greatest fell-good ever made.
I know we haven’t had much of a summer this year, but it’s nearly over and maybe we will have a nice autumn. These movies will make up for it in the mean time. The 1991 “Thelma and Louise” classic hit starring Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon has got to be one of the best romantic comedies ever. Critics called it a “hybrid chick flick,” making it is own genre and amounting a huge global fan base. It is a must-see.
If you go back to the 80s, the pinnacle decade for the teen movie, “Dirty Dancing” says it all. It was extremely popular with younger audiences earning more than $214 million worldwide. Starring Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze, lines from the movie are still quoted today with “Nobody puts Baby in a corner” being the most popular.
Now, if you go way way back to the 70s; you’ve got “Jaws.” It is seriously one of the best movies ever made and if you haven’t seen it you are missing out. The hunt for the killer shark and the journey of the fishermen trying to catch it has given every child born in the 80s a major fish phobia. You’ve got to watch it. Director Steven Spielberg purposely avoided casting big stars as he wanted the audience to “believe this was happening to people like you and me.”
