The Dubai Fitness Challenge is an excellent initiative on the part of the emirate, and all thanks must go to Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. At a time when the coronavirus pandemic has turned our lives upside down, confining us to our homes and an online world, physical exercise has been largely ignored. But Dubai thinks differently. Thousands came out of their homes to join the Dubai Ride, with Sheikh Hamdan leading from the front.
Over 20,000 cyclists joined him in the Dubai Fitness Challenge on Friday, as they rode through Dubai’s iconic Sheikh Zayed Road, which was, for the first time, converted into a 14-km cycling track.
The cyclists, kitted out with all kinds of gear, made history with a unique cycling experience along the magnificent road.
Youth are the pioneers of the future, and the young Sheikh Hamdan has truly shown the way. His focus on fitness is praiseworthy.
It is fitness which will ultimately lead to a healthy life, and ward off inertia and lethargy in the process.
