England and Joe Root scared the wits out of India by trouncing the hosts in the Chennai Test. But India bounced back in style (“India crush England by 10 wickets inside two days, take 2-1 lead in series,” Feb. 25, Gulf Today).
England have a lot of introspection to do before they cross swords again at Motera in the final Test of the series. By virtue of losing the day-night pink ball Test England are already out of contention for the spot in World Test Championship final to be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London in June.
India on the other hand have kept their hopes alive and only need a draw to qualify for the prestigious tournament.
Apart from that, the series is proving a boon for unheralded players. Loads of positives for India, going forward.
