Pakistan is a cricket crazy nation, and its endless cricketing talent makes headlines in the world regularly. A young cricketer named Babar Azam is an outstanding example (“Pakistan captain Babar Azam dethrones Virat Kohli to become world’s No.1 ODI batsman,” April 17, Gulf Today website.)
Babar Azam dethroned Indian maestro Virat Kohli after more than three years as the world’s number one batsman in one-day international rankings, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old becomes the fourth Pakistani batsman to get the top spot in ODIs and the first since Mohammad Yousuf in 2003.
“Pakistan captain Azam has ended Kohli’s long reign at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI player rankings,” the ICC said in a statement from its Dubai headquarters.
There is no doubt that Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world, it’s always amazing to watch Virat Kohli’s brilliant batting against any international cricket team.
Similarly, Pakistan’s cricket team’s captain Babar Azam has a mesmerising charm over his fans at home and abroad with his beautiful cricketing shots while batting against any cricket team.
Babar Azam made his ODI debut in May 2015 and has scored 3,808 runs at an average of 56.83 in 80 matches thus far. He has 13 centuries and 17 half-centuries to his name.
It’s for sure that the hard work and dedication in any field and profession pays off. After becoming the world’s number batsman in the ODI format, Babar Azam has to work hard to continue his reign at the top of the International Cricket Council Men’s ODI player rankings.
Captain Azam is a young and dynamic cricketer, he should not compromise on his fitness regime because fitness will allow Babar Azam to play cricket more and give the best performance for his country.
Azam, at the age of 26, has achieved huge honours and broken the record set by world-class cricket legend Virat Kohli.
I would like to congratulate Captain Babar Azam on his adorable success as he became the No.1 ODI batsman in the world. He made his country, Pakistan, proud in the world with his best performance.
