This is with reference to the article titled ‘Future of TV amid thriving digital platforms discussed’ (April 28, 2021)
The advent of the internet has impacted our day-to-day life in many ways, both positively and negatively. Many well-established newspapers have gone digital by replacing its print versions with an online edition. People now spend more time on the mobile rather than TV. The TV has also gone ‘smart’.
People thought the mobile phone will gradually reduce the sale of conventional wrist watches as time checking is possible with mobile phones also. However, people have not abandoned their traditionally old habit of wearing a wrist watch, as a part of formal attire. It has survived so far.
However, this is the era of “smart”. The smart watches have become popular and have cast a shadow on the sales prospects of traditional watches especially high-end brands including Swiss watches. Smart watches have expanded the concept of a watch, from just a device for checking time by adding many other options, ranging from entertainment to health. So as we are moving with the pace of innovation, our habits too are subject to changes.
