When famous actors dip their toes into the music industry, or plunge full force in some cases, it can be a little off-putting for fans. This week we are taking a look at some actors who can also call themselves musicians and the actors that maybe, should not.
Scarlett Johansson is renowned for her acting skills and was the world’s highest-paid actress in 2018 and 2019. She has won multiple awards and received Oscar nominations. Yet when it comes to her singing career, her audience numbers seem to dwindle. I never even knew that over the last decade she has been involved in several music projects. She does not get the same recognition in the music industry as she does in Hollywood.
Rita Wilson is another one. The wife of Tom Hanks has been acting since the 80s, and apparently began to record country music in the early 2010s. Fans just did not respond to her singing the same way as they did to her acting. She is still dedicated to her music and tries to target younger audiences.
However, sometimes the actor-musician thing does work. Take a look at Jared Leto for example. An accomplished actor, Leto’s music is even better. His music career has been very successful with the band Thirty Seconds to Mars of which he is the lead vocalist and main songwriter. He can command a stage just as well, if not better, than a movie screen.
