Summer is the time for good films in the cinema. With the pandemic still happening and much less people travelling, audiences will be delighted with the summer blockbuster movie line-up. This week we take a look at what the big screen has to offer us this season.
A film adaptation to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s popular musical has been made. “In The Heights,” starring Anthony Ramos and Stephanie Beatriz, was meant to be released in June last year but was postponed due to filming restrictions put in place because of COVID-19. This is colourful movie is bound to delight viewers everywhere, just as the musical did.
The villain of the Disney classic “101 Dalmatians” gets her own stage with the movie “Cruella.” The crime comedy-drama, which is already in cinemas here, sees Emma Stone take on the role of the fashion-obsessed dog thief Cruella de Vil. The film is set in London during the 70s where there was a punk rock movement taking place. This movie will appeal to people of all ages.
Another film to look forward to this summer is “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek. The movie is a sequel to the 2017 film “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” and continues with the same cast and a new storyline. This is an action-comedy movie in which Ryan Reynolds will, no doubt, have audiences laughing.
In other news this week, turn to our Fitness pages to read about running and losing weight. I think everyone has put on some weight as a result of not being as active during the last year. The weather is still pleasant in the evenings for anyone who wants to workout outdoors.
