Captain’s innings

One of the most revered Indian cricket captains, Kapil Dev, won the first World Cup for the country in 1983 and that was the magical moment for Indians. The versatile cricketer went on to inspire hundreds of cricketers with his all-round performance in the World Cup. He inspired others to be like him. But I feel Kapil Dev did not get much due in his whole career for his contribution to Indian cricket. A very humble person, he kept himself away from the limelight, but we want to know more and more about him.  

Now, a film on the 1983 World Cup victory is all set to be released on Dec.24, which takes us through the journey of a historic win. Of course the captain will be in the limelight for his tremendous effort. Everybody is excited and looking forward to watch the film. The trailer looks very impressive. Directed by Kabir Khan, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is enacting the role of Kapil Dev in the movie. I hope film-lovers will be able to acknowledge the hard work by Kapil. The film is a tribute to the man who remained modest throughout his life.
