Indian film industry has produced innumerable talented musicians and singers in all these years and one such legendary singer-composers was Bappi Lahiri. Known as India’s Disco King, he passed away on Wednesday at a Mumbai hospital. Bappi will always be remembered for his kind of lovely and energetic music. His foot-tapping disco music had revolutionised the Bollywood forever in 70s, 80s and 90s. He became a sensation at a very young age.
Soon after the news of his demise surfaced, his fans, friends, Bollywood colleagues and politicians started pouring in emotional messages and tributes on Twitter. Born in West Bengal to a musical family, Bappi was very passionate about his gold chains and sunglasses and he always had a style of his own. Despite getting huge success, he remained very down-to-earth. He had a heart of gold. It was a delight watching him live or watching him on TV shows. He always had tremendous energy.
His iconic numbers like “Jimmy Jimmy, Aaja Aaja,” “Tarzan, O My Tarzan,” “Tamma Tamma Loge,” and “Bambai Se Aya Mera Dost,” will always remind us of his work. He will always be remembered.
