There is still a serious need to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic carefully till the announcement from the World Health Organisation of complete success against the deadly virus (“Covid pandemic is not over, expert warns as hospital admissions rise,” March 10, Gulf Today website).
The lethal coronavirus has jolted the whole world with millions of casualties but billions of people are struggling against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Covid pandemic is not over, an expert has warned, after a rise in hospital admissions and infections in older age groups.
Dr Jenny Harries, chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency, sounded the alarm following the emergence of a more transmissible Omicron sub-variant. While new data indicates cases have fallen substantially since the peak of the Omicron wave in January, infections in England are increasing among those aged 55 and over.
The world response to the COVID-19 pandemic is laudable, we have achieved a lot of success against the coronavirus and many countries have eased the COVID-19 restrictions, but there are still standard operating procedures that should be exercised accordingly. I hope people around the world will enjoy easing COVID-19 restrictions with responsibility.
