Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar was conferred with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the country, from the President of India Ramnath Kovind on Sunday at the Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. She received this award for her contribution in the field of literature and education. This is a moment for Jamia families. This is indeed a great achievement for Jamia Millia Islamia.
Being the first woman Vice-Chancellor of JMI, Prof. Najma has guided the university very well. She has transformed almost every department of the university for its betterment. Today, JMI has become a very respectable and sought-after institution of India. Almost every faculty of Jamia is widely respected today, whether it is engineering, art and craft or science and social science. Its mass communication faculty is world-class, while the education department is of very high quality. Every year students from across the country dream to get a seat in Jamila Millia Islamia to secure their feature. Prof. Najma deserves praise for her untiring effort to make this university a world-class institution. We wish her best of luck for her future course of action. We hope JMI will grow by leaps and bounds.
