A great humanitarian ‘1 Billion Meals’ initiative is in full swing with full capacity, an initiative by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). It has started distribution operations in cooperation with the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP), the Food Banking Regional Network (FBRN), the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UAE Food Bank, and several local charity and humanitarian organisations in the beneficiary countries.
The United Arab Emirates is always one of the top countries when it comes to charity. It believes in supporting the underprivileged people.
To start the “1 Billion Meals” initiative in the Holy month of Ramadan is highly appreciable. The United Arab Emirates announced that it will distribute 1 Billion Meals to the undernourished in 50 countries around the world and the initiative has picked up pace.
On its part, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment began distributing food aid to beneficiaries in Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Tajikistan, and Uganda, in coordination with local authorities and relevant organisations.
The countries where distribution has begun are, apart from the UAE, Nigeria, India, Sudan, Jordan, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Tajikistan, Uganda, Kosovo, USA, and Albania utilising the existing field and logistical networks of the initiative’s operational partners.
The initiative’s collaboration with UNHCR allows it to directly reach beneficiaries in two countries — Nigeria and India.
I hope the United Arab Emirates humanitarian team will reach all 50 countries as soon as possible to provide food to the needy people who are looking forward to benefit from the great initiative of “1 Billion Meals”.
