The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned veteran Indian journalist Boria Majumdar for two years for threatening and intimidating Indian wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha. Boria won’t be able to attend any cricketing events for two years.
I really appreciate this. I am sure this will send a strong message for the future. I feel nobody should try to use his or her position to influence cricketers. We were literally shocked to read a tweet of Saha in which he had mentioned that a journalist is threating him for not giving him an interview on Feb.19 on WhatsApp. Saha was generous enough not to reveal the name of that journalist then. This indeed shows Saha’s class.
Though Saha looked sad and shocked how could somebody talk to him like this? He is an international cricketer who should be respected for his contribution. It was really unexpected from Boria who had earned huge respect for his work, but don’t know what went wrong with him. Boria is old and experienced enough to understand the consequences of his message. I really appreciate the BCCI for standing by Saha and I congratulate former Indian players also who came out in support of Saha, who included former Indian coach Ravi Shastri as well. Saha is currently playing for Gujarat Titans.
