Hats off to His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who directed the disbursement of Dhs50,000 to each family, whose homes were damaged by rain in the Eastern Region, and they were residing in shelter homes in the emirate. It was revealed that 65 families were affected (“Ruler allocates Dhs50,000 for each rain-hit family in Sharjah,” Gulf Today, Aug.9).
A kind ruler is a blessing of God as more than 3,400 rescue and evacuation operations were conducted in the eastern regions of the emirate of Sharjah. A bundle of thanks to the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, which received and handled more than 10,782 emergency calls, with full support from 503 crew members, 101 emergency vehicles and 45 patrols. We must appreciate rescue teams who were also deployed to provide immediate assistance to those affected and maintain their safety.
The emirate had braced up to address this anticipated summer deluge, by monitoring potential risks and reviewing federal response plans, to ensure the readiness of emergency crews and mechanisms, and spread awareness and safety tips.
