Sudan is a brotherly country of the United Arab Emirates. In the time of hardship President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the provision of Dhs25 million of urgent humanitarian aid to those affected and displaced due to torrential rains and floods in Sudan. The decision to send humanitarian aid to the brotherly country Sudan is highly laudable (“UAE President orders Dhs25m in urgent humanitarian aid to flood victims of Sudan,” Aug. 21, Gulf Today).
The directives of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed to provide such assistance are an expression of the solidarity of the UAE and its people with the Sudanese people in such dire circumstances.
The relief aid also aims to support Sudan’s efforts and capabilities in containing the fallout of the torrential rains that flooded vast areas across the country.
I am sure the generous help by the United Arab Emirates will make life easy for the people of Sudan.
