The proceeding atrocious exploits we witness in the airlines should be a wake-up call for all the airline industries. Whilst each of us pays for a service with facilities included we have reached a stage where humans vent their rage on other humans for nothing, ruining their travel comfort.
The news that I read and see in the media at the start of 2023 itself is deplorable and I wonder how things will be in the long run. Whilst many of us love to inconvenience and trap others there are many who love to witness someone else’s sorrow these days and mock it.
Sadly, this is how our 21st-century generation is. Travel has become a major issue. Too much rage and anger boiling in the aircraft when most of us are just looking forward to a safe and comfortable journey.
The live example of Shankar Mishra who urinated on a lady is the last thing that someone should do. Try to reckon with what the lady might have gone through. Some are paying heavily for a business class service just to get a few hours of a tight sleep, whilst there will be many looking forward to the service.
Whether he was intoxicated or not it is the airline's responsibility to see the physical state of the passenger, whether he is a CEO or a president or even from a top-notch family.
We understand no transport is safe but what we can assure and ensure is the safety and comfort of the passengers especially when you are in the sky. What if this would have been your relative or someone elderly who had to experience this? What if tomorrow my wife were in such a situation travelling alone whilst I’m on land not even aware?
What is even more agonising is the callousness of the airline in reporting it late to the authorities. This is the height of shamelessness and ridiculousness. Although I hail from India I do travel by Air India and I did hear that services did improve but complaints like this are something that the airline should not disregard.
Lastly, when it comes to serving alcohol the airlines need to draw the line and start limiting drinks to those who have reached the limit. As a reader and writer, I would support the move of a jail term and his apology to the people for his inappropriate conduct during the journey.
