Alarming development

The ongoing Russia and Ukraine war has had a bad impact on the supplies of oil and gas prices. People around the world are suffering from huge inflation due to shortage of commodities, supplies are totally disturbed (“Ukraine holds defence as battles rage in Donetsk region,” Feb.12, Gulf Today website).

The year-long war between Russia and Ukraine has only produced loss of precious lives, destruction and forced people to leave their homes and save their lives. According to the report, Ukraine’s forces hold defence along the frontline in Donetsk, including of the besieged town of Bakhmut, with the fiercest battles raging for the cities of Vuhledar and Maryinka, Kyiv’s top military commander said on Saturday.

Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, said Russia carries out some 50 attacks daily in Donetsk, a region in Ukraine’s southeast that Moscow has been trying to occupy fully. “Fierce fighting continues in the area of Vuhledar and Maryinka,” Zaluzhnyi said in a Telegram message after a call with US General Mark Milley. The deadly Russia and Ukraine war has only created thousands of illegal immigrants who left their country and took refuge in different countries to avoid war.

The powerful countries must play their honest role in bringing an end to the war because every minute is costing human lives and monetary losses.

Nothing is impossible in the world. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. The war only creates destruction and misery. I firmly believe that any deadly conflict can be solved through meaningful dialogue. For the sake of their own people and the world, I hope the sense of peace will prevail in both Russia and Ukraine and they will come together to solve their outstanding issues through meaningful dialogue.
