Varanasi will soon get Uttar Pradesh’s third international cricket ground after Lucknow and Kanpur. I was really excited to read the news online on Monday. The construction of the stadium is expected to start this year. As per authorities, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would receive the property by the end of the month.
The state government has bought a 31-acre plot of land in Rajatalab area for the international cricket facility. After Green Park in Kanpur and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, this will be the third such facility in the state. This is a great move. Uttar Pradesh is one of the biggest states of India, having a huge population. As we know cricket in India is growing day by day. We have more teams in the Indian Premiere Leagues (IPL), hence more and more stadiums are the need of the hour. Now, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has also started in India, so we need more cricket stadiums to host more matches. Hope the new cricket stadium in Varanasi will boost tourism in the state also, as we all know Varanasi is one of the oldest places of India will lots of amazing places.
