Sharjah Aquarium, one of the top tourist destinations in the United Arab Emirates, celebrated the World Turtle Day by releasing eight medium to large green and hawksbill turtles into the sea off Al Hamriya beach (“Sharjah Aquarium celebrates ‘World Turtle Day’ with Turtle Release,” May 23, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, Rashed Al Shamsi, Curator of Sharjah Aquarium, was present during the event, accompanied by a number of officials from Al Hamriya Municipality and other relevant departments. “This event serves as a valuable opportunity to educate the public about the crucial role these creatures play in our marine ecosystems,” he said.
Al Shamsi added, “Through our ‘Because We Care’ initiative, we aim to inspire positive change in the way we view and treat our marine environment and to encourage community members to be more involved.”
While celebrating World Turtle Day, Sharjah Aquarium sent a heart touching message to the world to play their part and encourage people around the world to help lovable creatures survive and thrive.
