There is no doubt that it was the toughest decision for the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who announced in January that elections will be held in the country on May 14 (“Erdogan declares victory in Turkey runoff election,” May 28, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared victory on Sunday in a historic runoff vote that posed the biggest challenge to his 20 years of transformative rule.
The 69-year-old leader overcame Turkey’s biggest economic crisis in generations and the most powerful opposition alliance to ever face his party to take an unassailable lead.
Near complete results showed him leading opposition rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu by four percentage points.”
The recent powerful earthquake which killed hundreds of people in Turkey made it more difficult for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to win the elections, but the people of Turkey once again showed trust in him and elected him as their president for one more tenor, which is his fifth tenor as a ruler of Turkey. I would like to congratulate the people of Turkey and the newly elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and wish them the best for a bright and successful future.
