It’s a huge success for the United Arab Emirates government’s tourism policy to attract millions of people after the hiatus of Covid -19 pandemic (“Dubai receives 8.5 million visitors in first half of 2023, exceeding pre-Covid levels,” July 17, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, during the first half of the year 2023, the tourism sector in Dubai outperformed the levels before the Covid-19 pandemic in terms of the number of international visitors, for the same period of the years 2019 and 2018, reflecting its ability to deal with the challenges posed by Covid-19 on the tourism sector globally.
The city’s hotels received more than 8.5 million international visitors during the first half of 2023, according to the latest data, compared to about 8.36 million international visitors that the city received in the first half of 2019, a growth of 1.7%, and the number of international visitors increased by 5%. Compared to 8.1 million international visitors during the first half of 2018.
The Covid-19 pandemic forced the world to stop travelling activities because millions of people were dying of lethal coronavirus. The way the world fought against the Covid-19 pandemic and succeeded, saved the world from more coronavirus disasters is also laudable. But it was not an easy task to bring back life as normal as it was pre-Covid world.
Dubai, one of the seven Emirati states, which has the credit to attract a huge number of tourists from all over the world, offering the world class lifestyle, a number of tourism sites, festivals and desert safari and many more, remains the top tourist’s destination country.
The above mentioned news shows the success of the United Arab Emirates’ successful policy against the Covid-19 pandemic and quick recovery from it.
I would like to congratulate the visionary leadership of the United Arab Emirates to make the country lovable and proud in the world.
