The news of an unfortunate event of the Iraqi wedding in which 113 people killed and a number of people injured after fire engulfed a crowded wedding hall is painful. The sorrowful event left people all over the world in tears (“At least 113 killed as fire engulfs crowded wedding hall in Iraq,” Sept. 27, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, at least 113 people were killed and more than 150 injured when a fire broke out during a wedding at the hall in the northern Iraqi town of Qaraqosh, officials said early on Wednesday. Nineveh province Deputy Governor Hassan Al Allaf told reporters that 113 people had been confirmed dead.
The marriage ceremony, an event of celebration and joy, turned into misery after the fire set entire family members of the bride and groom on fire along with guests who were busy enjoying the ceremony.
The shocking news of the unfortunate incident of an Iraqi marriage ceremony spread like a wildfire and made the headlines all over the world. It takes lots of time to plan marriages and needs lots of consultation between both the parties to reach a date of wedding and a number of arrangements to make the ceremony memorable. But, it’s a reality of human life that nobody knows what is going to happen in the next movement.
I am sure the Iraqi government will not leave any stone unturned in providing full treatment to people who are injured and compensate financially to the families of departed souls. I would like to express my deep sorrow to the families of people who were killed in the unfortunate incident and pray that Allah Almighty bless the departed souls and grant them eternal peace and highest place in the Heavens.
