I am a huge fan of the Pakistan cricket team and I wanted them to perform well at the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. But they have lost two matches out of four. And I am feeling very sad by being a supporter.
I watched them play against Australia on Friday. It is good to see Shaheen Shah Afridi coming back into form. He picked up five wickets and looked very good. Pakistan was very close to victory while chasing but the poor form of Babar Azam is a cause for concern. He has not been able to click so far.
He is the best batter we have in the world without doubt, but he is going through a bad patch. In international matches, lots of players go through lean patches and they bounce back also. I hope Babar comes out shining soon.
Pakistan still has a few more matches to play before it is too late. It was good to see openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq doing well. They played a great innings but they could not take the match deep. Had both of them stayed on the ground they could have finished the game in 45 overs for sure.
Slowly the Pakistan team is coming into form and I hope they can go ahead if they play good cricket from here on. By the way, cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty. That’s why we can’t say who will win and who will lose. This nature of the game makes it very interesting.
We all have seen how mighty England is facing trouble and have lost three of their matches so far while South Africa is doing great. Anything can happen on a given day and that’s the beauty of cricket.
