After months of speculations, predictions and guesses the Golden Globe Awards nominations have finally been announced. This week we take a look at the entire list of nominations which includes the usual portion of surprises and snubs as well as the expected nods.
As predicted, the movies “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” lead the way with the most nominations with a whopping nine for the former and eight for the latter. For “Barbie,” actors Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are nominated as well as director Greta Gerwig. “Oppenheimer” director Christopher Nolan is also nominated as well as actors Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. It will be really interesting to see how these two films do against each other.
When it comes to television shows, “The Crown” made history after becoming the first show to be nominated for Best Television Series – Drama, for each of its seasons. The show is quite controversial for depicting the lives of the British royal family. Its latest and sixth season shows the romance between Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed, and their untimely deaths. Actress Elizabeth Debicki is nominated for her portrayal of the late Princess and I must say the resemblance is uncanny.
Selena Gomez is nominated for her role in the comedy show “Only Murders in the Building” in which she stars alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short who are both also nominated. This show has proved to be a real success for Gomez keeping her name current in the acting world. The show has a total of five nominations this year and has been consistent with its nominations over its three seasons.
