A powerful earthquake that jolted Japan and claimed more than 100 precious lives made thousands of people homeless and put enormous pressure on Japan’s economy (“Japan earthquake estimated to cost insurers $6.4b; death toll nears 100,” Jan.5, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, insured losses from the devastating earthquake in Japan could reach $6.4 billion, according to an estimate from US-based catastrophe modelling firm Karen Clark & Co.
There is no doubt once again that the people of Japan are going through a tough time, but I am sure the government of Japan and its people will cope with it and emerge a stronger nation.
