The landslide in the mountainous part of southwestern China in which reported 47 people died is sad and painful news (“47 buried in southwest China landslide,” Jan.22, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, the pre-dawn landslide hit in Zhenxiong County, Yunnan province, state news agency Xinhua reported, citing local authorities. State broadcaster CCTV said around 18 households were buried, and that more than 200 people were “urgently evacuated” from the area.
I hope the local government will compensate the families of victims who lost their precious lives in the unfortunate incident.
I am sure the Chinese government will not leave any stone unturned to rescue the injured people who were stuck in a landslide that struck a mountainous part of southwestern China.
