All good music has one main thing in common and that is the ability to stay relevant for decades. This week we are taking a look at some amazing albums which are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year having been released 20 years ago in 2004.
Destiny’s Child were absolutely huge over the course of 14 years from the early 90s until they split up in 2006. The band comprised of three members, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. They released album after album of successful hits until their fifth and final album came out in 2004.
“Destiny Fulfilled” featured the hit songs “Lose My Breath,” “Soldier,” “Girl” and “Cater 2 U.” From that time, it has been Beyoncé who has gone on to forge a huge solo career although the band’s songs are still well known and loved.
It seems like Kanye West is never out the news these days. Twenty-years-ago the controversial rapper released his debut album “The College Dropout” which featured the songs he became famous for such as “Through the Wire,” and “All Falls Down.” When you listen to this album you really do miss the old Kanye. He was all about his music then instead of this strange behaviour he spouts now.
Another singer who released his debut album 20-years-ago is John Legend. Legend came out with the hit album “Get Lifted” which really put him on the map and cemented his future as one of the most successful male artists. On that album is the brilliant single “Ordinary People,” which Legend is most known for.
