Award season is still going strong and the excitement is building for the Oscars which are just around the corner. This week we are taking a look at the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards which recently took place in Los Angeles.
Along with the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards are considered to be one of the major awards ceremonies that celebrate and recognise good work in the film and TV industry. This year’s SAG Awards did not disappoint with the movie “Oppennheimer” taking home three awards. Actor Cillian Murphy won the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role for the film.
The actress Elizabeth Debicki had two nominations and ended up winning the award for best performance by a female actor in a drama series for her role as the late Princess Diana in “The Crown.” She was also nominated twice last year. I find her impersonation of the late Princess to be earily accurate. The actress looked stunning in a light blue, shimmery custom gown from Armani Privé.
The best performance by a female actor in a supporting role category featured a lot of big names including Penélope Cruz, Emily Blunt and Jodie Foster. However it was “The Holdovers” actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph who ended up taking home the prize for her role in the comedy drama movie.
