The final of the Tata IPL between KKR and SRH on 26 May was an unmitigated letdown. The Hyderabad team scored just 113 runs. The KKR team walloped that mingy total in 10.2 overs.
The audiences in the stadium and in front of the televisions felt completely disenchanted. This was not cricket or a game or a final. It was shocking. As one of the commentators put it, “We did not deserve this.”
For Hyderabad to play so poorly, after about eight weeks and 73 games of IPL cricket, was depressing. Again, about 90 minutes were wasted when the game ended and the prize distributions commenced.
