Cricket as we all know is a game of glorious uncertainties. This was proved right once again, when Afghanistan, USA and Bangladesh managed to qualify for the next round at the ongoing T20 World Cup, while New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka could not. This is very unusual. But this defines the true nature of cricket. I must appreciate USA, Afghanistan, Bangladesh for putting up a brave effort to survive. They have played great cricket. The USA deserve praise for their effort and approach. They are playing their first ever international tournament and they managed to defeat mighty Pakistan and put India under check for a very long time.
The USA looked like a seasoned team. I feel ICC has managed to succeed in their goal of promoting cricket in the USA. Even Afghanistan did a great job and they played very good cricket in this tournament so far, though they lost to West Indies but fought back nicely. The way Afghanistan has worked hard to be where they are today is commendable. I again appreciate ICC for helping Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, I feel sorry for Pakistan. Despite having so much of talent, Pakistan failed to put up a good fight in this tournament. Babar Azam once again failed to take his team forward. Now, I feel under the able guidance of new coach Gary Kirsten, Pakistan will regroup themselves to become a force to reckon. Kristen has a great history as a coach.
