It’s a highly condemnable cowardly attack by the gunmen who killed at least 15 policemen across two cities in Russia’s North Caucasus region of Dagestan (“At least 15 police killed in gunmen attack in Russia’s North Caucasus,” June 24, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, the simultaneous attacks across the cities of Makhachkala and Derbent came three months after 145 people were killed in an attack claimed by the Islamic State on a concert hall near Moscow, Russia’s worst terrorist attack in years. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks in the volatile North Caucasus region. “This is a day of tragedy day for Dagestan and the whole country,” Sergei Melikov, governor of the Dagestan region, said in a video published early on Monday on the Telegram messaging app.
The terrorist’s attacks on a synagogue, an Orthodox church and a police post in different cities of Russia’s North Caucasus region of Dagestan raised the question of safety and security of common people and police force.
It’s a prime responsibility of the State to provide safety and security to its people. I am sure the Russian government is capable of fighting against terrorism and will take serious action against the terrorist groups in the country.
