Indians are delighted to win the T20 World Cup. Congratulations to the team. Unfortunately, two of the finest Indian players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohl, are retiring after this victory. There was talk before the games, that they would have to make space for other players. Wherever there is fame or riches involved, there are many suitors, with their supporters and godfathers.
Cricket in India, offers a very affluent career to those who make it. A successful career in cricket in India, can offer more rewards, than a vocation in engineering or medicine.
Hence, the pressure on them to go. Rohit and Virat, are in their prime and have a lot of cricket yet in them. They could have played and contributed more to the game, for some more years. This, would inspire more youngsters. There has been unfortunate pressure on them, to retire. Now, at least, they will go with full honours, in a blaze of glory, after having won the T20 World Cup, in their careers.
