As another world leader, Winston Churchill, said, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it” and that lesson could be learnt the hard way this week.
The general public won’t be allowed to carry guns into the US Republican National Convention but they can bring them downtown probably close enough to shoot a lot of people. Surely it’s time to realise that people shouldn’t be allowed to wander around with guns including hidden guns.
Everyone was pleased that Trump survived the attempted assassination but given the climate in America there are likely to be more incidents involving people from both sides, hopefully unsuccessful.
It’s time to look at the realistic option of restricting gun access to those protecting us, the military and police mainly. Being armed shouldn’t be an automatic right. Let’s live a peaceful life.
