No doubt, it is heartening to know that the cash-rich Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted a cash grant of Indian Rs.8.5 crores to IOA for the Olympic athletes. When compared to the grant of Rs125 crores to the T-20 World Cup winning squad of 20 to 25, this amount for nearly 300 athletes, who represent the country in Paris Olympics, is a pittance.
In fact, the BCCI, which is harvesting thousands of crores every year, during the IPL tournament, could very well have granted at least Rs1,000 crores for the benefit of the Olympic contingent. We are sure the grant of Rs8.5 crores for 300 athletes is not going to Make India Proud.
