The 2024 Emmy nominations are finally in after a year which saw the 2023 ceremony held in January of this year because of the strikes in Hollywood and the delays they caused. This week we are taking a look at all the nominations and who is leading the biggest categories before the award ceremony takes place in September.
The series “Shōgun” made Emmy history with a grand total of 25 nominations. Created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks and based on a book by the same name, the Japanese historical drama tells the story of an English sailor who gets shipwrecked and finds himself in Japan. The nominations include Best Drama, Best Actor for Hiroyuki Sanada and Best Actress for Anna Sawai.
Also setting records is the popular comedy show “The Bear,” which has been a familiar name on the award scene for the last couple of years. The series collected 23 nominations which is a new record for comedy shows at the Emmys. The show’s lead actors, Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, were nominated for their performances again.
