Kudos to the Sri Lankan women’s cricket team for their clinical display to shock the tournament favourites, India, to clinch their first ever Women’s T20 Asia Cup title in Dambulla. Ironically, they chased the difficult target of 166 with 8 wickets and 8 balls to spare, which is really commendable. It seems the Indian women were overconfident, especially after setting the target of 166.
But for the knock of 60 by Smriti Mandana, 29 by Rodrigues and finally the flourishing 30 in 14 balls off Richa Ghosh, they should have got less than 150. In any case the Sri Lankan women played an aggressive game and richly deserved the trophy/crown.
