It’s so sad that the spell of ongoing heavy rain has claimed a number of precious human lives in both the countries of India and Pakistan (“Thousands evacuated as rain lashes parts of India and Pakistan,” Aug.29, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, heavy rains battered parts of India's western state of Gujarat this week, flooding cities, snapping utility links and forcing thousands to leave their homes, with at least 28 dead, authorities said on Thursday, warning of more heavy downpours.
I am sure civilian governments of both the countries will utilise all efforts to provide some relief to the families of victims and help them to get shelter in safe areas during the season of heavy rain. It’s also important that people from both the countries remain in their houses during the heavy downpours to avoid any adventurism which cost them heavy losses.
There is no doubt that the moderate rain is a blessing, but heavy rain has the flip side of it which is a disaster for poor people who can’t cope with the loss of their beloved people and belongings facing harsh weather.
