Thank God, the collision involving Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express train and a stationed goods train did not prove to be a deadly one like the Balasore tragedy.
Thanks to the break vans at the rear of the freight train which took the impact. Fortunately the speed limit too was slow, due to the curve in the track, which avoided any calamity.
Definitely there should be a thorough inquiry to find out the real reasons for this accident, especially when the NIA feel that it could be a sabotage. This angle is valid, as recently there have been instances when there was detection of cracked tracks and even gas cylinders on the tracks.
We hope that the NIA would complete this probe early and pinpoint the real reasons for the accident and the Railways would take corrective measures to avoid any further accidents.
Incidentally, the demand of Congress leaders for the sacking of the Railway Minister is nothing short of a political stunt, as except Lal Bahadur Shastri, who resigned after the Ariyalur accident, no one from their government had ever resigned during their tenure. Even now, when there are serious allegations against their Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, still he is continuing as the Chief Minister.
