Tomoyuki Mimaki, the Nihon Hidankyo organization’s Hiroshima branch executive, who was exposed to the atomic bombing at the age of three in Hiroshima, is a living symbol of peace and struggle but exposes the danger of powerful warheads that the world has in its stockpile of weapons today (“Japanese atomic bomb survivor group Nihon Hidankyo wins Nobel Peace Prize,” Oct.11, Gulf Today website).
Even though Japan's cities were the first in history to be hit by atomic bombs, there is always a chance that conflicts would arise with other nations that have a lot of potent nuclear weapons that are ready to go off at any time.
The confrontations between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and Gaza, have the potential to endanger lives and bring about more serious and tragic human tragedies than the world has ever witnessed.
It is unpredictable how far such conflicts will carry life on Earth to a level that, if they happen, cannot be cured. As the ongoing conflicts have already claimed thousands of innocent lives and extensively damaged the earth’s potential, there is no indication of when they will end and be resolved forever.
The world needs to pay attention to Tomoyuki 's struggles, as he envisions a world free of nuclear weapons. In contrast, the globe is home to various potentially hazardous substances that could endanger life as we know it.
Let’s hope the Nihon Hidankyo organization continues working for a safer nuclear-free world.
