Our Test Cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, was in a ticklish position, to bat or ball after winning the Toss @ Bangalore against New Zealand. Taking into account the team composition, going with just two pace bowlers and three spinners, he thought it wise enough to bat first and pile up runs. Alas, it seems everything got backfired and the team is in a precarious position at 34 for 6 at lunch.
The New Zealand pace bowlers, especially rookie bowler O'Rourke, troubled all our top order batsmen to account for three vital wickets. Had Pant's catch been taken by Blundell, it should have been seven down. Well, let us keep our fingers crossed and expect another recovery innings by Ravichandran Ashwin and Pant, who survives like a cat.
If not, it may be difficult for our team to save the first Test, sans rains. Of course, we cannot totally write off our team, as our bowlers have always proved to be match winners. Anyway, it is too early to predict, and cricket being a funny game, anything could happen in the remaining sessions.
