Man of the match Salim Qudoos was outstanding with the ball (5 for 51) and Qamar Abbas Awan was devastating with the bat (96 runs in 58 balls) as Atlas Foundation trounced Global Contracting LLC by seven wickets in the 45th Bukhatir Premier League match on Monday.
Global won the toss and elected to bat. Adnan Ul Mulk was off the blocks in a hurry hitting fours and sixes. He and Shahzad Ilyas put on 23 runs for the first wicket but Shahzad’s contribution was only 4 before he fell to Mukhtar Ahmed.
Adnan and Rehan Ul Haq steadied the innings a bit with a 55 run partnership. The duo were looking good until Rehan was run out for 33 and that triggered a mini collapse of sorts.
Rehman Gul (16), Faisal Nasir (25), Bhavesh Patel (12) and Ahsan Abbas (24 not out) gave Adnan some company before the rest just crumbled.
Adnan tried holding one end but on 66 became one of five victims for Qudoos.
Chasing 198 to win opener Anjum Naveed gave Atlas a brisk start as he raced to 28 from 20 balls with four fours and a six before he departed.
Awan and Wajid Mehmood capitalised on that and took the score to 139 for 2 in 16.4 overs.
Wajid played a patient 34 but there was no looking back for Awan whose 96 came off only 58 balls and it was studded with nine hits to the fence and six over it. Unfortunately Awan could not take his team home but Shahbaz Rashed and Tariq Mehmood (both 10 not out) did the needul as they saw Atlas home in 22.3 overs.
To make their task easier Global bowlers sent down 22 wides. In another match, a crucial 116 run partnership between Salman Babar and Yassir Kaleem resulted in Elite Cricket Club’s emphatic six wicket win over New Medical Centre.
