Ahmed Khalil scored in either half of the match as Shabab Al Ahli Dubai defeated Al Dhafra 2-1 in the final match of the President’s Cup at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain on Monday.
Khalil drew first blood in the 31st minute to give Al Ahli lead. Dubai club maintained the lead till the half time. And later on after the break he added one more in the 70th minute as the score reached 2-0 before Al Dhafra’s Saeed Al Kathiri scored in 78th minute to reduce the lead but it was too little too late.
Match was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman.
Marwan Bin Gheleita, President of the Football Federation, stated that the UAE’s leadership is keen to support the country’s sporting sector, which has achieved many successes in various sports.
He also expressed his happiness at the patronage of Sheikh Humaid for the event for the second consecutive season, while praising the support of Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the Honorary President of the Football Federation, for the cup and other championships, as well as his directives related to sporting development.
Marwan Bin Gheleita noted that the assistance of the country’s leadership has enabled Emirati athletes to continue their hard work, attain the highest honours, and reinforce the UAE’s position in regional and international sporting events.
