Nail-biting finishes and a few unexpected results marked the second day of the Sharjah Ramadan Futsal Championship (SRFC) 2019. In the first match of the day, in Group A, TG comfortably defeated Talento, with an overwhelming margin of 12 goals to nil.
In a fiercely fought Group B match, Embrator edged past AG 90 in a high scoring thriller. Embrators opened the scoring, when Abdullah Karmstgi netted the ball in the 8th minute followed by another strike by Gowrin Dierzgolof, minutes later.
AG 90 managed to pull one back when Al Mutaz Biallah Abdulsamee surprised Embrator’s goalkeeper with a cannonball strike. Embrator scored two more goals in quick succession to go 4:1 up. AG continued pressing hard and scored twice through Taleb Al Fazai and Muhammed Abdul Hameed. However, the equalizer eluded AG with the match ending 4 goals to 3, in Embrator’s favour.
Hamriya and APL Group played out to a goalless draw in their Group C match. In the hard-fought match, despite attacking football from both sides, neither side was able to find the net.
In the last match of the day, Sport 4 All dominated the match proceedings against Al Shabab. Sport Four’s Hamdi Mohammed opened the account in the 10th minute followed by another in the 14th minute. In the last seconds of the first half, Sport 4 All’s Hussein Khorshidi scored the third goal. Sport 4 All found the net twice more in the second half through strikes by Hisham Saad and Youssef Rashed. Jabir Shah scored the only consolation goal for Al Shabaab.
The event brings together 12 senior teams divided into four groups and six U14 teams split into two groups.
Organised by the Sharjah Sports TV, SRFC is held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at the Sharjah Sports Club’s indoor Stadium, Al Hazana.
During the competitions, Sharjah Sports Club’s basketball team were also felicitated for winning the GCC Basketball Club Championship for the second consecutive year.
Sunday is anticipated to see fiercer competition. The Embrator and Al Bahri will meet in the first match at 10:00 pm.
Al Wahdan and APL will be face to face in the second match at 11:00 pm, and Al Shabab will be up against Khorfakkan at 12:10 am. In the final match Sharjah Police will take on Fuhood Al Zabeel at 01:15 am.
Earlier, Fast and Sport 4 All played the first match in the U14 category on the opening day of the tournament. Fast scored their first goal in the second minute of the first half and the second came just after three minutes. In the second half, Fast continued to control the game, scoring the third goal in the tenth minute. Player Mayed Al Baloushi finished the job with a fourth goal.
The competition between Sharjah Police and Al Mofaja’a, newcomer to the championship, was fierce. The game saw successive attacks by both teams. In the 12th minute the Brazilian Lima Thales scored the first goal for his team Al Mofaja’a, but Sharjah Police quickly responded when David Eduardo scored a goal in the same minute.
In the second half, successive attacks resulted in a second goal scored by the Brazilian Alex Da Silva when Miguel Kenji passed him the ball in the third minute. Sharjah Police continued to control the match until the last minute. They earned three points and lead the first group temporarily.
