Dubai Sports World (DSW) has opened its doors for the summer with an official opening visit by Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council.
Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in association with Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Sports World (DSW) is now open from today to Sept.10, and is set to welcome hundreds of thousands of athletes, sports enthusiasts and spectators alike.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Hareb said: “We are proud to see Dubai Sports World grow bigger and better each year, serving as the ideal platform for people to come together in a safe environment to play sports.
“In fact, physical activity is known to promote inclusiveness and tolerance, and positively contributes to a healthier society. We want to encourage everyone to get involved and reap the benefits of such a great initiative.
“Over the past few years, the numbers have shown a growth and this bodes well for everyone, including visitors to the UAE. We look at catering to physical needs of the entire family and I am confident this year we will cross the 1.5 million visitors’ mark,” he added.
“The demand is there, and it’s increasing each year. I wouldn’t be surprised if we increase the size of the place next year. This is Dubai and there is no limit to what we can achieve.”
Mahir Julfar, Senior Vice President – Venue Services Management, Dubai World Trade Centre, stated: “Dubai Sports World continues to change the culture of sport in the UAE by encouraging more people to move from a sedentary lifestyle to a more physical active life, in spite of the soaring temperatures. DSW has extended the boundaries of sport arenas to provide a suitable venue for people to play and compete. We look forward to another eventful edition.
“We are working towards promoting healthy lifestyle experiences, and look forward to a fun-filled event this year, with an exciting line-up of sports to create memorable experiences.”
