Pak's legendary cricketer questions team India's sportsmanship post England loss

Pakistan's legendary cricketer Waqar Younis shared a meaningful note to define the sportsmanship of the champions after India suffered their first defeat of this World Cup against the hosts on Sunday.

Waqar has questioned the sportsmanship of Virat Kohli’s men following their 31-run loss to England in the ongoing World Cup.

Chasing 338 on Sunday, India could manage 306/5 in their full quota of 50 overs at Edgbaston and suffered their first defeat in the ongoing tournament.

"It's not who you are...What you do in life defines who you are...Me not bothered if Pakistan gets to the semis or not but one thing is for sure...Sportsmanship of few Champions got tested and they failed badly," said Waqar on Twitter.

Earlier, former Pakistan cricketers Basit Ali and Sikander Bakht had alleged that the Men in Blue might intentionally lose to England to oust Pakistan from the tournament.

Speaking to a Pakistani news channel after India's defeat, Basit Ali said: "If you are chasing 337 runs and in the first 10 overs you only make 28 runs in which two fielders are in the outer circle, then according to me India played those 10 overs really bad."

"They had a picnic on the field. The batsmen were just making sure they were in good form. Rohit Sharma scored a century at his own time, Virat Kohli score his 66 so leisurely. It was just Pandya who was hitting and scored 45 off 33 balls," added Ali, who has played 19 Tests and 50 ODIs for Pakistan.

Had India won Sunday's game, it would have made it much easier for Pakistan to enter the semifinals as they would then have to beat Bangladesh to make it to the knockouts.

However, now besides beating Bangladesh, Pakistan will have to bank upon the result of the England-New Zealand match and hope that the Black Caps defeat the Three Lions in their last encounter on Wednesday.
