AD Showdown Week a bonanza in waiting for sports, fitness freaks

The Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo will bring the very best from the worlds of fitness and well-being to du Forum on Yas Island from Sept.5-7, 2019, as part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Showdown Week.

With a packed programme of city-wide events from Sept.1-7, culminating in UFC® 242: KHABIB vs. POIRIER at The Arena, a purpose-built venue on Yas Island on Sept.7, Abu Dhabi Showdown Week, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), will feature an expansive week-long series of lifestyle events to suit all tastes – including the Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo.

Ticket prices for the Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo range from Dhs50 for a one-day pass, to Dhs120 for a three-day pass.

A single day VIP pass, which includes exclusive opportunities to get up-close to global fitness celebrities, is priced at Dhs100.

Designed to complement the Abu Dhabi Showdown Week programme, which will also include, superstar concerts, pool and beach parties and culinary and retail promotions, the Expo, managed by UAE-based Universal Music Fitness and Fashion (UMFF), will bring together leading international companies exhibiting the latest fitness innovations. The event will also include high-profile fitness and wellbeing thought leaders, who will take the stage to share their extensive knowledge and insights across a two-day series of seminars.

Fitness classes and activations have been designed to engage attendees of all ages, alongside competitions for coaches, amateur MMA fighters, CrossFit athletes, strongmen and women and elite amateur bodybuilders.

The dedicated industry platform will welcome fitness celebrities such as four times Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler and Mr. Universe, Mike O’Hearn.

The Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo opens at 3:00pm on Thursday (Sept.5) at du Forum on Yas Island with leading industry players exhibiting their latest technologies and product innovations.

The UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation will host the Amateur Fighters Championship, featuring some of the region’s most talented fighters, while the Expo’s arena area will host Strongman Live, which promises to be a true show of strength and technique from some of the world’s strongest athletes in a series of challenges including Farmer’s Walk, Truck Pull, and Atlas Stones.

The Life Transformation Coach Competition will honour qualified, REPs registered fitness coaches who have mentored clients through their lifestyle and wellness transformations, while Group Fitness Classes will be open to all attendees from 4 - 7pm.

Day two of the Expo will include the Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo CrossFit Championship, featuring leading CrossFit athletes, and the 2nd Abu Dhabi Classic – an International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Amateur Championship.

A Fitness and Fashion competition will be open to men and women while the group fitness classes will continue with the addition of a Yoga Movement Masterclass.

The industry conference series will feature a soon-to-be-announced fitness celebrity with the final day of the Expo on Saturday (Sept.7) giving Expo attendees the chance to get involved in CrossFit training, group classes and hear from fitness celebrities.
