AJMAN: BS Double Premier League II, one of the most awaited cricket tournaments of the season, will get under way at the Eden Garden in Ajman from Sept.20.
The tournament will be played in two rounds. First round will commence on Sept.20 and end in the last week of October.
Later, the action begins in the second round from first week of November.
A total of eight teams are participating in the BS Double Premier League including Aaa XI, DBMSC Steel, Emirates Avenger, Karwan Strikers, MS Dhoni Academy, National Bank of Fujairah, Pitchers and Thunder Strikers. The two-month long event will have 44 matches and each team will play 11 matches.
Gaurav Uppal, founder of BS League, said: “I am delighted to welcome the players of eight teams into the field for the BS Double Premier League, as we continue our work alongside Ajman Cricket Council to offer the opportunity to play competitive tournaments, Uppal added.
“I myself am a passionate cricketer, so I’m committed to providing quality cricket tournaments on turf wicket and grass ground in the UAE. Under the name of BS Cricket League we have conducted more than 22 tournaments in the past 14 months.”
The tournament is sponsored by BS Sports FZE LLC, Aangan Restaurant and Super Vision Opticals.
“The popularity of the event has been rising steadily, we have received more entries from the teams comparing to the last edition.”
Recently, the organisers hosted the final of BS League which was won by Ronins Challengers. Riding high on skipper Amit Keswani unbeaten 75, Challengers defeated BS Thunder CC by seven wickets to clinch BS League title.
Keswani’s 75 off 42 balls was studded with seven boundaries and four towering sixes as Ronins Challengers chased down the winning target of 137 in 14.4 overs. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, BS Thunder posted 136 for the loss of seven wickets from their allotted 20 overs.
