Dubai Mammoths returned home from a successful tour of Chiang Mai in Thailand. The Dubai side won all their three matches against Lanna Cricket Club’s A, B and C division sides over the three days they toured that country.
Dubai Mammoths consisting of Indian businessmen who play in the Dubai Mammoths leagues started their tour with an easy match against Lanna’s C Division side.
The home club won the toss but barely crossed the 100 run mark as Ranjeet Chavan (3-30), Mukund Srinivasan (2-21) and Shiva Pagarani (2-3) enjoyed bowling on the turf pitches of the Prem Tinsulanonda International School ground.
It was not so easy for them on Day 2 when the Division B side pushed them to the last over.
Having batted first Dubai Mammoths scored 198 from their 30 overs.
Devinder Taneja struck a superb 51 before retiring hurt. Kunal Jain (35), Anshul Siroya (22) and Kanishk Monga (26) did their bit to give the side a healthy total.
Lanna’s B Division outfit fought well through Jon Scales (58), Gregg (34) and Ton Lamphun (42) but just could not cross the tape.
The third match was played at Chiangmai Gymkhana Club which is a golf course with a cricket pitch in the middle.
Lanna’s Division A team won the toss and put up a stiff 199.
Changhai (83), Jon Scales (23) and Burhan (22 not out) were their top scorers but Dubai Mammoths gave a befitting reply through Mukund Srinivasan (62), Vijender Rana (44) and Kunai Jain (48). This was Dubai Mammoths’ third consecutive tour of Chiang Mai which is nestled in the northern part of Thailand.
They have made it an annual event and have already planned their 2020 tour of Chiang Mai next November.
During their three-day tour Dubai Mammoth were hosted by Lanna CC which is an authorized club under the Cricket Association of Thailand.
This has been Dubai Mammoths’ 15th tour outside UAE. They have toured UK seven times and Ching Mai thrice. They have also played in various places in India.
