Ocean Fair defeated Pakhtoon United by two wickets to lift the 19th City Diamond 7-A-side cricket Cup. With 5 runs required off the last ball, Basit Ali of Ocean hit a six to win the game.
Batting first, Pakhtoon United posted a competitive total of 75 for the loss of five wickets in five overs.
Waqas belted a quick-fire 35 while Rizwan Ahmed chipped in with s useful contribution of 22 runs to propel the score to 75/5.
Chasing, Ocean kcocked down the winning run off the last ball of the match with two wickets remaining to emerge cham,pions. Hafeez Afridi scored 21 while Adil Butt smashed an unbeaten 30.
The tournament is held to celebrate the 48th UAE National Day. The cricket carnival was held on the Ocean Fair Cricket ground at Dubai Investment Park.
The tournament was organized by senior UAE Umpire Tariq Butt, and all prizes were donated by Deepak Arora of City Diamond and Freddy Sidhwa of Ocean Fair International.
In the semi-finals, Ocean Fair defeated Anchor Marine by 32 runs while Paktoon United beat Golden Tower by 16 runs to set up a mouth-watering final showdown.
After the prize distribution ceremony, Arora promised to provide continuous support to organize the Indian Independence Day and UAE National Day events in the future, as he has been doing for the previous 19 years.
