After bagging three golds and four silvers medals last year, the UAE golfers aim for another strong finish at the GCC Golf Championship.
Begin on Friday and run until Dec.31, the event is taking place at the Ghala Golf Club in Muscat where the golfers will compete in the 23rd edition of the men’s Championship, the 5th edition of the ladies championship, and the 11th edition of the Boys Junior Championship (18 and & Under and 15 & Under Divisions).
110 golfers representing Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar and hosts Oman are participating in the championship.
Hassan Al Musharrekh, Khalid Al Jassmey, Ahmed Skaik, Obaid Al Heloo, Reema Al Heloo, Mohamed Adel Al Hajeri, Alia Al Emidi and Hamda Al Suwadi are representing UAE at the GCC Golf Championship.
Last year, the UAE Team finished first to win the gold in n the men’s division, led by team captain Yousuf who captured the silver medal in the individual category.
Reema was the overall Champion in the ladies division.
Hajeri also won the gold in the individual category for the UAE Junior 18 & Under Team.
Meanwhile, a technical committee meeting was held which was chaired by Munther Al Barwani, Chairman of the Gulf Golf Organizing Committee, in the presence of Adel Al Zarouni, Secretary General of the Arab Golf Federation, Ahmed Al-Jahdhami, Secretary General and other senior officials.
Barwani welcomed the participants and wished all the competitors and officials a happy stay in Oman.
